Parent Update:  

The Boca Raton Charter School is located inside the Wayne Barton Study Center in east Boca Raton.  This facility is clean, cost effective and will provide a safe environment to continue to educate young learners through the IB curriculum.  Parent Leadership Council contact:  Irin Mikhailenkov (646) 721-0952.

Boca Raton Charter Early Learning Center

Boca Raton (BRCS) Early Learning Center (ELC) is now open to serve ages 3- 5 year old children.  The program is fee based. ELC  operates 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on school days.  The Director is a Florida Professional Educator certified in as a Child Care Director. 

This program has been developed to provide children with a solid foundation of skills prior to entering kindergarten.  Academic instruction includes;  Four IB PYP Units of Inquiry and the Super Kids Reading Program (phonics based reading introducing young learners to letters, sounds and words through literature).  The centered approach to learning through daily thematic lessons emphasizes language and socialization skills.  Children attend Spanish, Music and Media/Technology classes weekly. 

Fees include lunch and two snacks daily.  The weekly fee is paid bi-monthly. A registration fee of $50 is assessed each year.  Boca Raton Charter School is a Voluntary Pre-K site.  Children four years old by September 1, 2011 are eligible for a certificate.  Fees to parents will be adjusted upon certification by the Early Learning Coalition.  To register for the VPK Program visit  www.upkflorida.org

International Baccalaureate News

Students are completing their units of inquiry for the school year. The portfolio of projects and student work is being compiled for review during the IB Authorization team's visit.

The Primary Years Program is a comprehensive approach to learning.  The curriculum addresses the interrelatedness of three questions;  What do we want to learn? How best will we learn? How will we know what we have learned?

The written curriculum incorporates five essential elements:  Concepts, Skills, Attitudes, Action and Knowledge.   

Sponsorship Opportunities Available

Parents must provide a copy of the students birth certificate, proof of a physical exam (form provided by a health care professional) and updated immunization record. Students will not be allowed to attend class on the 1st day of school without the required documents.  Please check with your physician for new immunization requirements for the 2011-2012 school year.
